The team looks into a series of child abductions in a small town in Pennsylvania.

Publication History

Following Hollow Earth it was unclear what direction the B.P.R.D. comics would take. Four one-shot stories were published every other month from May to November 2003; The Soul of Venice, Dark Waters, Night Train and There's Something Under My Bed. At the same time during the 'off' months Dark Horse published the out of continuity anthology Hellboy: Weird Tales.

There's Something Under My Bed was published in November 2003. The story was later collected in B.P.R.D.: The Soul of Venice & Other Stories in August 2004.

Synopsis

In a small town in Pennsylvania, a little boy goes to sleep one night. A monster appeared under his bed and somehow disappeared with the child. This disappearance is the fourth in the town.

Back at the B.P.R.D., they decide to look into the disappearances. Kate Corrigan sends Elizabeth Sherman, Abe Sapien, Roger and Johann Kraus to the home of the next potential child to try and stop the abduction. Abe hides in the girl's closet, and suddenly a monster appears there. Abe fights with the monster and stops it from taking the girl, but in the process is himself transported away.

In a run down toy store a group of monsters are arguing. The leader asks how they managed to mess up and take Abe back with them instead of the little girl. Abe, locked up with the other children, manages to stall for time. Eventually the rest of the team arrives and rescues the children.
