Out of Reach acts as a preview for The Warning and therefore the whole of the Scorched Earth Trilogy.

Publication HistoryEdit

The 10-page story was one of three published on Free Comic Book Day in May 2008. The story was collected along with The Warning #1-5, in the trade paperback B.P.R.D.: The Warning in April 2009.

SynopsisEdit

The story follows on from the events of the Killing Ground. Abe Sapien is preparing to lead a team in search of Ben Daimio. Johann Kraus offers to lead the team but Abe refuses, claiming he has "lots of things" to take care of.

Johann finds the bodies of Chaves and his previous physical form (which was destroyed by Daimio during the events of the Killing Ground) being removed after autopsy. The pathologist tells Johann that they could not find the knife, that Kate Corrigan had instructed them to find, on Chaves' person. Johann takes the inventory and tells them that he will take care of it.

Johann discovers that his attempts to create a new physical form will not work and it is then revealed that he has the knife, that can kill the were-jaguar.
