Domovoi are Russian house-spirits usually the spirits of ancestors that look after the welfare of the family.
Hellboy: Darkness Calls[]
While trapped in the Thrice Lands, Hellboy came upon an abandoned cottage. To escape a blizzard Hellboy took shelter there. Immediately the house-hold objects began to attack him. Hellboy roared for them to stop, and found the Domovoi hiding in the stove. Realizing what his opponent was, he asked where his family was. The spirit mournfully said they were gone. The spirit knowing who Hellboy was and the bounty that Baba Yaga had on his head, decided to call a truce. Hellboy lit the stove and the two shared a smoke. The two chatted on Hellboy's situation, and the Domovoi informed that Hellboy was in favor of Perun who was causing the storm to hinder Koshchei. However the storm did not last, allowing the crazed immortal to enter the home and attack Hellboy.
Seeing the damage the two were causing to his home, the Domovoi joined the fight. However after seeing he was outclassed ducked into the stove to hide. He witnessed Vasilisa the Beautiful rescue Hellboy. The pair escape and the Domovoi mocked the defeated undead for being defeated by a little girl, only to immediately shut up when the man's eyes turned to him.
