Children of the Black Mound was a non-canonical story published in Hellboy: Weird Tales #1, written by Fabian Nicieza and drawn by Stefano Raffaele.
Plot Synopsis[]
A disagreement is taking place in The Theological Seminary of Tbilisi in 1896 about how much stock should be placed in in folklore and mythologies by members of the Orthodox Church. A story about Baba Yaga stealing the children of a small town is used as talking point in the debate. The story ends with Baba Yaga commenting that both her time and that of the Orthodox Church are coming to a close due to the rise of communism in Eastern Europe.
