In Another Day at the Office, Abe Sapien and Johann Kraus look into zombies in Moldavia.

Publication History[]

When four B.P.R.D. one-shots were collected in B.P.R.D.: The Soul of Venice & Other Stories in August 2004, Mike Mignola created this eight-page story specifically for the collection. It was later reprinted in the Hellboy 20th Anniversary Sampler.

Synopsis[]

Abe Sapien and Johann Kraus arrive in Bolgrad, Moldavia. The day before a number of zombies walked into town, but the locals took care of them. The last remaining zombie was held for examination. Johann determines that a man named Robert Huntley and Kurya are behind the zombies. Kurya was a local tyrant in the 1400s. They travel to the monastery where he was buried only to find more zombies. In the chapel they find Huntley possessed by the bones of Kurya. Abe shoots Huntley with a tranquilizer dart and ends the trouble.

Trivia[]

The comic refers to the location it takes place in as "Bolgrad, Moldavia", this is technically correct, since Moldavia is a historical region which now is part of the countries of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine. Bolhrad (Bolgrad is it's Romanian/Bulgarian/Russian name) is in the Ukrainian part of the region since 1944, so a more accurate location text would be "Bolhrad, Ukraine". This could be due to a difference between the Hellboy Universe and our own, but it's more likely to be a "mistake".
